Asia Standard Americas is the North American arm of Asia Standard International Group, a publicly traded real estate development company based in Hong Kong since 1984. Four decades of that history sit behind every project the North American arm puts its name to.

Its work in Vancouver’s West End centres on landmark projects: the redevelopment of the old Landmark Hotel, and the 1400 Alberni block. These are architecturally significant, mixed-use residences in one of the world’s most closely watched urban markets, where a development is judged long before anyone can walk through it.

Burst partnered with Asia Standard Americas to design and build a refined, responsive website that carries that stature online. The brief was a digital presence that communicates three things without stating any of them outright: trust, sophistication, and clarity.

The Challenge

Stature has to translate.

A company known for architectural significance needed a digital presence that reads the same way.

The site had to speak to a discerning audience of buyers, brokers, and international partners without raising its voice. It had to hold the company’s international aesthetic at every screen size, present development information clearly enough that a serious enquiry needs no follow-up call, and make a first impression worthy of the buildings behind it.

It also had to work for people encountering the company for the first time. In premium real estate, the website is often the first room a buyer walks into.

The brief was never a brochure site. It was a digital presence that carries the same weight as the architecture.

Strategy

Understand the market first.

Burst worked closely with the client to fully understand their market, their buyers, and their place within Vancouver’s luxury development landscape.

That understanding came before any design work. A development company competing at this level is not selling square footage; it is selling a position, and the position had to be understood before it could be expressed.

The creative team then presented detailed mood boards that set the tone for art direction and supported photography planning. Those boards gave the client and the photographer a shared reference to work from, so the imagery captured would convey the company’s values: confidence, culture, and international prestige.

The Experience

Every choice, deliberate.

Typeface, buttons, layout elements, motion interactions: each design choice was tailored to support the user journey while reinforcing the company’s premium positioning.

Nothing on the page is incidental. Where a mainstream property site would add a badge, a banner, or a call to action, this one adds space. The restraint is the point: pacing and typography do the work that decoration would only get in the way of.

Motion follows the same rule. Interactions are present, but they behave the way a well-made door behaves: you notice the quality, not the mechanism.

The Site

Clean layout, elegant type.

The site is built on a clean layout, elegant typography, and a sophisticated colour palette of gold and slate blue, all guided by the brand’s international aesthetic.

Gold carries the warmth and the sense of occasion; slate blue keeps it grounded and corporate rather than decorative. Held in the right proportion, the two read as considered rather than expensive, which is the harder of the two effects to achieve.

From the homepage through to development pages, the structure gives each project room to be seen. Renderings, location, and detail are presented in the order a serious buyer looks for them, so the site answers questions in the sequence they are actually asked.

Creative

Designed to respond.

To ensure a consistent experience across all devices, Burst focused heavily on responsive design.

Content and imagery were scaled thoughtfully to maintain legibility and visual impact on screens of all sizes. Large architectural imagery is the hardest thing to carry down to a phone, and it was treated as a design problem in its own right rather than something the layout would resolve on its own.

From homepage to subpage, every module was built to align with both brand standards and user behaviour. The result holds its composure whether it is opened on a studio display or on a phone in the back of a car.

Work that brought an international developer’s vision to a digital audience.

The Impact

A new digital benchmark.

The result is a site that not only meets global expectations, but sets a new digital benchmark within the premium real estate space in Vancouver.

Asia Standard Americas now has a presence that matches its portfolio: clear for buyers, credible for partners, and consistent with the international brand behind it. The company’s Vancouver work is presented at the standard its Hong Kong parent has held since 1984.

For a developer whose projects are years in the making, that consistency matters more than novelty. The platform is built to carry the next landmark as readily as it carries this one.

In Closing

Built to be seen.

Architecture is judged in person and online, and increasingly online first. For a developer building landmarks, the digital presence is part of the work rather than a record of it.

The buildings will speak for themselves in time. Until then, the site speaks for them.

Burst builds that presence with the same care the buildings are given.
